Your days in your hands

Privacy Policy

Hitotsuzuri stores your everyday records on your iPhone. This page explains the information it handles and the choices you have.

Last updated: September 15, 2026

1. Information and its purposes

Information you enter, import or allow the app to obtain is used to display, organize and search your records.

Photos and videos
The app reads thumbnails, capture dates, locations and reference identifiers from the photo library you allow it to access, and stores them on your device. Image text recognition and classification also take place on your device. The app displays originals from your photo library rather than keeping separate copies.
Notes, annotations and saved place names
Text, names, dates and other details you enter are stored on your device for display and organization. Note text and saved place names are also used for searching.
Audio and transcriptions
Recorded audio, imported files and transcriptions are stored on your device. Transcription takes place on your device and may be unavailable depending on the device, language or other conditions.
Location and past journeys
When you grant permission and enable the feature, the app records stays and significant movements. It does not continuously record routes using high-accuracy GPS. Google Takeout files you select are processed on your device to import past records.

2. External services and information sent outside your device

The app has no feature that stores your records on a developer server or sends them to external AI. It does not include advertising, behavioral tracking or usage analytics.

Apple maps and place names

Apple place lookup is off by default. If you enable it, opening the details of a record with a location sends coordinates to Apple’s MapKit and location services to display a map and place name. Photos, record text and audio are not sent. Retrieved place names are held in device memory for up to 15 minutes and are discarded when the app enters the background or you turn the setting off.

Choosing to display a map in the filters also sends the displayed area to Apple. This action alone does not enable automatic place lookup. Searching records within a circle happens on your device.

Determining a time zone from coordinates and storing place names you assign do not use a network connection. For Apple’s information handling, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

iCloud Photos and storage services

Viewing originals in iCloud may involve a download through Apple’s photo library. When available during backup, iCloud Photos identifiers are saved in the device’s records and backup to help reconnect to originals in the same library. The developer does not receive these identifiers or photos.

Transferring backups to iCloud Drive or another destination you choose uses iOS and the destination service. Each service handles information under its own policy.

3. Retention, hiding and deletion

Records remain on your device until you delete them. Hiding a record keeps it stored but removes it from normal lists and search results. You can show it again from the hidden records list in settings.

Older backups may contain records you have since deleted. Remove unwanted backups from their storage locations.

4. Encrypted backups

The app exports records, thumbnails, selected original audio and related data as an encrypted file to a destination you choose. Original photos and videos are not included. If it cannot reconnect to originals in the same iCloud Photos library, it displays saved thumbnails.

Your recovery code is not sent to the developer. If you lose it, the developer cannot reissue it or decrypt your backup. When making a new backup on another device, keep the code shown on that device too.

You can choose to remember a destination folder and make automatic backups on a daily or weekly schedule. This is off by default and can be stopped at any time. iOS determines when tasks can run, so exact times or intervals are not guaranteed. After a completed backup is saved, only older backups automatically created by this device are removed according to your retention setting.

While automatic backups are enabled, the encryption key is held in the device’s Keychain so it can be accessed while locked after the first unlock. The key is not synced to iCloud. When you stop automatic backups, its protection returns to access only while the device is unlocked.

The current iPhone app does not integrate with HealthKit. Health-derived records imported with an earlier development version can remain on the device or be deleted, but are not included in backups.

5. Choosing and withdrawing permissions

Photo access is used for importing and viewing originals, microphone access for recording, and location access for recording stays and significant movements. You can change permissions in iOS Settings at any time. The microphone is not used when you are not recording. Withdrawing permission does not remove existing records. Delete unwanted records in the app.

This website is served through Cloudflare Workers. It does not include advertising, analytics tags, tracking cookies or external fonts. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request times and other information to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for details. The app does not send your records to the website’s hosting service.
